Simplicity Laser uses the industry’s gold standard of lasers - Candela’s GentleMax Pro, featuring the ND:YAG and Alexandrite wavelengths, making it suitable for almost everyone. While we can treat all ethnicities and hair types, laser hair removal is not effective on red, blonde, white, or gray hair due to the specific pigmentation targeting.
As such, achieving flawlessly smooth legs has become a beauty standard and a confidence-boosting endeavor. In this blog post, we'll delve into why the legs are a preferred area for laser hair removal and explore why this advanced technique is considered the best choice.
The legs are not only highly visible and socially exposed but also boast a large surface area, making them an ideal area to do laser hair removal and cut down the time you spend shaving or waxing.
Whether it's the desire to flaunt silky smooth skin in a summer dress, athletic wear, or swimwear, the legs play a crucial role in one's overall appearance. Unlike smaller areas, such as the face or underarms, laser hair removal for the legs offer a comprehensive and transformative space for those seeking a long-lasting solution to unwanted hair.
Treating the full legs with laser hair removal provides a long-term solution that reduces the need for constant grooming and maintenance. Shaving or waxing large leg surfaces regularly gets time-consuming, and the convenience of laser hair removal appeals to those seeking a more efficient and hassle-free alternative.
Some people may be able to shave their legs in 10 minutes, but if you have to shave every two to three days, you are spending 30 to 40 minutes shaving per week. That’s 1,560 minutes a year of shaving your legs!
Unlike traditional methods that may result in uneven hair growth or stubble, laser treatments uniformly reduce hair density, creating a consistently smooth surface. This is especially beneficial for individuals who prioritize a consistently sleek appearance.
Traditional hair removal methods, such as shaving and waxing, can be time-consuming and require frequent maintenance. Being a relatively expansive area, the legs often demand considerable effort in terms of time and resources for regular grooming.
With its precision and lasting results, laser hair removal provides a more convenient alternative. The reduced need for frequent upkeep makes it an attractive option for individuals with busy schedules, allowing them to enjoy consistently smooth legs without the hassle of daily or weekly grooming rituals.
One of the key advantages of laser hair removal is its precision in targeting hair follicles. This gradually reduces hair growth over multiple sessions, leading to finer and lighter hair. This precision ensures that the procedure effectively removes unwanted hair while leaving the surrounding skin undisturbed.
This accuracy minimizes the risk of irritation or ingrown hairs, common concerns associated with other hair removal methods. The gradual improvement in the skin's texture and appearance over the course of treatments contributes to the overall satisfaction of individuals seeking a reliable, effective solution for their leg hair.
While the initial cost of laser hair removal may seem higher compared to traditional methods, the long-term savings are often significant. When considering the cumulative expenses of razors, shaving creams, waxing appointments, and other products, laser hair removal is a cost-effective solution over time.
The upfront investment in laser treatments eliminates the ongoing need for regular purchases of shaving supplies or waxing sessions. Individuals find that, in the long run, the initial cost of laser hair removal is offset by the continuous savings and the freedom from the recurring expenses associated with other hair removal methods.
Investing in laser hair removal for the legs is about more than upfront cost savings. It's an investment in long-term convenience, effectiveness, and the overall quality of life.
The continuous smoothness achieved through laser treatments eliminates the need for daily or weekly grooming rituals, providing a liberating experience for individuals seeking a hassle-free solution to unwanted leg hair. The long-term worthiness of this investment is not only measured in financial terms but also in the sustained confidence and satisfaction that comes with consistently smooth and hair-free legs.
Laser hair removal on the full legs aligns with a low-maintenance lifestyle. Once the desired results are achieved, individuals can enjoy long periods without the need for regular grooming. This convenience is attractive to those who value simplicity and prefer a beauty routine that doesn't demand constant attention.
In the realm of hair removal, laser treatments are recognized for their minimal discomfort. The sensations experienced during the procedure are generally well-tolerated, with most individuals describing them as similar to the snapping of a rubber band.
Furthermore, laser hair removal is a safe, FDA-approved method when performed by trained professionals. This ensures that individuals are able to enjoy the benefits of hair-free legs without compromising their well-being. The combination of minimal discomfort and safety enhances the overall appeal of laser hair removal as a preferred choice for those seeking a reliable, comfortable solution for unwanted leg hair.
The precision of laser hair removal also minimizes the risk of ingrown hairs, a common concern with traditional hair removal methods. By targeting hair follicles and inhibiting their regrowth, laser treatments contribute to smoother skin, reducing the occurrence of ingrown hairs that can be both uncomfortable and unsightly.
In the quest for smooth and hair-free legs, laser hair removal stands out as the top choice. Its popularity is rooted in the desire for long-lasting results, convenience, precision, and the overall effectiveness of the procedure.
As more individuals discover the transformative benefits of laser hair removal on their legs, the trend towards a smoother and more carefree lifestyle continues to gain momentum. The initial investment in laser treatments pays off in the long run, not only in terms of financial savings but also in the sustained satisfaction and confidence that come with effortlessly smooth legs.

]]>However, like any cosmetic procedure, proper aftercare is crucial to ensure the best results and minimize any potential discomfort or side effects. Following these essential aftercare tips optimizes your laser hair removal experience and maintains healthy, radiant skin.
Avoiding sun exposure is one of the most critical aftercare tips for laser hair removal. The skin becomes more sensitive after the procedure, making it susceptible to sun damage. If you must go outside, make sure to cover the treated areas with loose clothing and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF.
Sunscreen acts as a protective barrier, shielding the skin from harmful UV rays and reducing the risk of post-treatment complications, such as hyperpigmentation or sunburn.
Immediately after the laser hair removal treatment, you may experience mild redness and swelling in the treated areas. To soothe the skin and alleviate discomfort, apply cold compresses. We do not recommend applying ice directly to the area; instead, we recommend applying a product, like Restorative Gel, that will help restore and soothe the skin. Additionally, avoid hot water or steam on the treated areas for the first 24-48 hours, as heat can exacerbate redness and sensitivity.
You should avoid activities that induce heat and excessive sweating for a few days after laser hair removal. Activities such as hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts can irritate the treated skin and hinder the healing process. Instead, opt for light exercises and avoid exposing the treated areas to situations that may lead to profuse sweating. Staying cool and dry will promote faster recovery and reduce the risk of complications.
Keeping the skin hydrated is essential for maintaining skin health and reducing post-treatment discomfort. After laser hair removal, the treated areas may feel dry or tight. To combat this, moisturize regularly with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer.
Look for products that contain ingredients like aloe vera or chamomile, known for their soothing properties. Regular moisturization minimizes dryness and helps protect the skin's moisture barrier, reducing the likelihood of itching and flaking.
While your skin may be resilient under normal circumstances, after laser hair removal, it becomes more sensitive to irritation. As a precaution, avoid using harsh skincare products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), retinol, or benzoyl peroxide on the treated areas for at least a week post-treatment.
These ingredients can cause further irritation and disrupt the skin's healing process. Instead, choose mild, hypoallergenic skincare products designed for sensitive skin during recovery, such as Restorative Gel, which will help soothe and restore the skin.
During the first couple of days after laser hair removal, avoiding scrubs, exfoliants, or loofahs on the treated areas is crucial. The skin is in a delicate state during this time, and exfoliation could cause damage or increase irritation. While gentle cleansing is essential, opt for mild soap or a non-abrasive cleanser to clean the treated areas without causing any additional stress.
We recommend gently exfoliating the skin two or three days after the treatment to help remove the treated hair and prevent ingrown hairs. You should only do this if you experience no prolonged side effects such as swelling, itchiness, or redness.
The treated areas may feel itchy as the hair follicles are affected by the laser. However, scratching or picking at the skin is strongly discouraged, as it can lead to infections or scarring. If you experience itching, apply a soothing cream or aloe vera gel to relieve the discomfort. If the itching persists or becomes unbearable, consult your laser hair removal specialist for safe and effective anti-itch remedies.
Proper hydration is essential for overall health and well-being, including skin health. Drinking plenty of water helps flush out toxins from the body and promotes healthy skin regeneration. Adequate hydration ensures that the skin remains supple and assists in the healing process after laser hair removal. In addition to water, incorporate hydrating foods into your diet, such as fruits and vegetables, to support your skin's recovery.
Every individual's skin responds differently to laser hair removal, so it's crucial to follow the post-treatment instructions provided by your laser specialist. These instructions are tailored to your specific needs and will ensure optimal results and minimal discomfort.
If you have any questions or uncertainties about the instructions, do not hesitate to seek clarification from your specialist. Compliance with the guidelines will significantly influence the success of your laser hair removal journey.
Laser hair removal offers a convenient and long-lasting solution for removing unwanted body hair. By prioritizing proper aftercare, you can maximize the benefits of this procedure and minimize any potential discomfort. Avoid sun exposure, keep the skin cool, and stay away from heat-inducing activities to protect your treated skin.
Regular moisturization, avoidance of harsh skincare products, and refraining from aggressive exfoliation ensure that the skin heals effectively. Resist the urge to scratch or pick at the treated areas and maintain proper hydration for overall skin health.
Lastly, adhere to the post-treatment instructions provided by your laser specialist to achieve the smooth, hair-free results you desire. With these aftercare tips in mind, you can confidently embark on your journey to smooth, hair-free skin.

One of the most prevalent misconceptions about laser hair removal is that it is an excruciating procedure. While it's true that some individuals may experience slight discomfort, advancements in technology have significantly minimized the pain associated with the procedure.
Many modern laser devices incorporate cooling mechanisms that soothe the skin before and after the laser pulse, making the process much more tolerable. At Simplicity Laser, we utilize a Zimmer device that blows cool air on the area during your treatment. Most people describe the sensation as a mild stinging or snapping feeling, far from the excruciating pain that some myths suggest.
Another common myth is that laser hair removal is exclusively for women. In reality, both men and women benefit from this procedure. Men often seek laser hair removal for areas like the back, chest, and shoulders, while women commonly target areas such as the face, underarms, legs, and bikini line. The treatment is not bound by gender and is tailored to each individual's specific needs and preferences.
It's important to have realistic expectations when undergoing laser hair removal. Some people mistakenly believe they will leave the clinic completely hair-free after their first session.
In reality, the process requires patience. Achieving significant hair reduction requires multiple sessions. Hair grows in different cycles, and laser hair removal is most effective during the growth phase. This means that results are gradual and become more noticeable as you progress through your treatment sessions.
While you may experience some hair reduction after your initial session, a series of treatments is necessary to achieve optimal, lasting results.
This misconception stems from early laser technology that was less suitable for individuals with darker skin tones. However, advancements in laser technology have led to the development of devices that effectively treat various skin tones. For instance, Simplicity Laser uses the Nd:YAG to safely treat darker skin tones by targeting the hair follicles without causing harm to the surrounding skin.
While laser hair removal might have a higher upfront cost than traditional hair removal methods, such as shaving and waxing, it is often cost-effective in the long run. Over the years, consider the cumulative costs of razors, shaving creams, waxing appointments, and other hair removal products.
Laser hair removal offers a more permanent solution, reducing the need for ongoing maintenance and saving both time and money in the long term. At Simplicity Laser, we believe that laser hair removal should be accessible to everyone, which is why we price our treatment programs at a great value without compromising the quality of your treatments.
Laser hair removal is suitable for individuals of various ages as long as they are past puberty and their hair growth has stabilized. Whether you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s, or beyond, laser hair removal can still be effective and beneficial as long as the hair is treatable.
With the rise of at-home beauty devices, some individuals are tempted to try DIY laser hair removal kits. However, these devices often lack the power and precision of professional-grade equipment used in clinics. Without the expertise of a trained practitioner, there's a risk of improper use, which can lead to ineffective results or even skin damage.
Professional clinics use FDA-approved devices operated by trained professionals who are able to customize treatments based on your skin type, hair color, and other individual factors. At Simplicity Laser, we use FDA-approved lasers: Candela, Nd:Yag, and Alexandrite.
On the contrary, laser hair removal actually helps reduce the occurrence of ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs often result from hair growing back into the skin instead of outward. Laser hair removal targets the hair follicles, weakening them over time, which reduces hair thickness and growth. With less hair to trap under the skin's surface, the likelihood of ingrown hairs is minimized.
While it's true that laser hair removal requires multiple sessions for optimal results, each session is relatively quick. Treatment times vary based on the size of the area being treated. Smaller areas like the upper lip might take a few minutes, while larger areas like the legs or back might take up to 25 minutes.
Compared to the time spent on regular shaving or waxing, the cumulative time spent on laser hair removal sessions is often a more efficient use of your time in the long run.
Laser hair removal is a safe, effective method for achieving long-lasting hair reduction. By dispelling these common myths, individuals can make informed decisions about whether laser hair removal is the right choice for them.
It's essential to consult with a qualified, experienced professional before undergoing any cosmetic procedure, ensuring that you receive accurate information tailored to your specific needs and circumstances. With advancements in technology and a better understanding of the procedure, laser hair removal provides a reliable solution for those seeking smoother, hair-free skin.
]]>Before embarking on your laser hair removal journey, consult a qualified and experienced professional. This step allows the technician or customer service representative to assess your skin type, hair color, and overall goals. At Simplicity Laser, we value your time and do our consultations over the phone. A Simplicity Laser representative can help you find the treatment program that fits your specific needs.
Direct sun exposure can increase the risk of complications during and after laser hair removal due to the heightened sensitivity of tanned or sunburned skin. The melanin in tanned skin can absorb more of the laser's energy, potentially leading to discomfort, burns, or even hyperpigmentation.
To safeguard your skin, abstain from prolonged sun exposure for at least two weeks prior to your scheduled session. If unavoidable, diligently apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF and wear clothing to cover the area to shield your skin from harmful UV rays. This minimizes the chances of adverse reactions during the laser hair removal process.
It's recommended to shave the treatment area 12 to 24 hours before your laser hair removal session. Shaving ensures that the laser energy is precisely targeted toward the hair follicles beneath the skin's surface, optimizing the procedure's efficiency. This practice also prevents the laser from singeing or affecting hair above the skin, reducing the potential for discomfort during the session.
By providing a clear path for the laser to reach the hair follicles, shaving allows for a more controlled and effective treatment, resulting in smoother, longer-lasting results.
Well-hydrated and moisturized skin enhances its natural resilience and minimizes the potential for irritation after laser hair removal. Ensuring your skin is adequately hydrated starts from within — drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment.
Complement this internal hydration with the external care of a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer or restorative gel. By nourishing your skin's outermost layer, you create a protective barrier that can mitigate the temporary redness or sensitivity that might occur post-treatment. This proactive approach paves the way for a smoother, more comfortable laser hair removal experience.
Informing your technicians about your current medications is vital, as certain medications can heighten skin sensitivity to the laser's effects. Knowing your medication regimen equips the technician to tailor the treatment to your specific needs, reducing the likelihood of adverse reactions.
Equally crucial is divulging any underlying conditions, like PCOS. These conditions may impact the treatment's feasibility and effectiveness, necessitating adjustments to ensure your safety and satisfaction. Open communication with your technician ensures a personalized approach that optimizes your laser hair removal experience, delivering the best possible outcome for your unique skin type and circumstances.
While it might be tempting to remove hair using methods like waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis before your laser hair removal session, you should avoid them. Laser hair removal primarily targets the follicle itself. Therefore, it is essential that the follicle's integrity remains intact. Waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis either damage or remove the hair follicle, and this would interfere with the results of laser hair removal.
Shaving, on the other hand, merely trims the hair at the surface and leaves the follicle undisturbed, allowing the laser to precisely target and disable it. By choosing shaving over these other methods, you create the best conditions for a successful and comfortable laser hair removal experience.
Self-tanning products, including creams, sprays, and lotions, can interfere with the effectiveness of laser hair removal. These products can darken the skin, making it harder for the laser to differentiate between hair and skin. This can lead to uneven results, an adverse reaction, or skin irritation.
On the day of your treatment, avoid using perfumes, deodorants, or any scented products on the treatment area. These products can contain ingredients that might cause skin sensitivity during the procedure. They can also create a barrier on the skin that could minimize the treatment's effectiveness and increase the risk of an adverse reaction.
Refrain from using harsh skin treatments on the treatment area at least one week before and after your laser hair removal session. These treatments — such as chemical peels or exfoliants (AHA, BHA, Vitamin C) — can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of adverse reactions.
After your laser hair removal session, your skin might be slightly sensitive. Avoid hot baths, saunas, and vigorous physical activities for at least two hours to give your skin time to recover. Also, be diligent about applying sunscreen to protect your treated skin from the sun's rays.
Laser hair removal can be a game-changer in your quest for smooth, hair-free skin. Following these dos and don'ts is essential to ensure the best results and minimize potential risks. By consulting with a professional, preparing your skin adequately, and adhering to the guidelines provided, you can look forward to a successful and satisfying laser hair removal experience.
Remember, patience is key, as achieving the desired results requires multiple sessions. With proper preparation and a committed approach, you'll be well on your way to confidently flaunting a hair-free appearance.
Come and see for yourself! Contact Simplicity Laser today to begin your laser hair removal journey.]]>In this blog post, we'll take you through what to expect during your laser hair removal sessions, from the initial consultation to the post-treatment care.
The journey toward successful laser hair removal begins with a comprehensive over-the-phone consultation. During this session, a member of our Care Team will determine the treatment area, assess your skin type, hair color, and discuss your medical history. This information is crucial for tailoring a treatment plan considering your unique characteristics and hair removal goals.
At Simplicity Laser, we prioritize your time, making our consultations swift and effortless. A single phone call is all it takes to link you with a member of our dedicated Care Team. They will assist you in determining the most suitable treatment plan for your requirements and expectations. Furthermore, our commitment to transparent pricing means you won't have to undergo a preliminary consultation to determine the precise cost. You can find all our pricing details listed on our website.
Before your laser hair removal session, it's essential to follow the pre-treatment guidelines provided by your technicians. These might include avoiding sun exposure, removing any spray tan, shaving the treatment area 24 hours prior to the treatment, and refraining from using any lotions, creams, or perfumes on the treatment area. Adhering to these guidelines helps ensure optimal results and minimizes potential complications.
On the day of your session, your technician will provide you with protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser's intense light. They will also adjust the laser settings based on your skin tone, hair color, and the treatment area. This customization enhances both the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.
The sensation experienced during laser hair removal varies from person to person. Most individuals describe it as a series of quick, mild pinpricks or a feeling compared to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Many modern laser systems incorporate cooling technology to minimize discomfort during the procedure, creating a more pleasant experience.
At Simplicity Laser, we use a machine, the Zimmer cooling system, during your treatments to make it more tolerable and comfortable. The Zimmer cooler uses cold air technology to provide continuous cooling to the skin before, during, and after each laser pulse. This cooling effect helps to protect the skin from overheating, reducing the sensation of heat and discomfort caused by the laser. It also helps to protect the surrounding skin from excessive heat, reducing the risk of burns or post-treatment redness.
The cold air is blown onto the skin through a handheld device, creating a soothing sensation. Patients often find the use of a Zimmer cooler beneficial, as it significantly improves their overall comfort level during the procedure. The cooling not only minimizes discomfort but also allows for the use of higher laser energy levels, potentially leading to more effective hair removal.
However, it's important to note that the level of discomfort is generally manageable and well-tolerated, often likened to the sensation of plucking eyebrows. The anticipation of discomfort might outweigh the actual feeling for many, and technicians are skilled at adjusting settings to balance efficacy with comfort, ensuring you have a positive and effective session.
The duration of a laser hair removal session depends on the size of the treatment area. Smaller areas like the upper lip usually take only a few minutes, while larger areas like the legs or back may require around 30 to 60 minutes. Multiple sessions are usually needed to achieve the best results, as hair grows in different cycles.
Laser hair removal is not a one-time solution. Hair grows in cycles, and the laser is most effective on actively growing hair. Multiple sessions (usually spaced 6-8 weeks apart) are necessary to target hair in different growth phases. Maintenance sessions may be needed to address any regrowth over time.
After each session, you might experience mild redness or swelling in the treated area. This is normal and typically subsides within a few hours. It's essential to follow your technician's aftercare instructions, which often include avoiding hot showers, saunas, sun exposure, and intense physical activities for a day or two. Applying a soothing, fragrance-free moisturizer and sunscreen, as advised, will help maintain the health and appearance of your skin.
Over the course of your sessions, you'll notice a gradual reduction in hair growth. The results are not immediate; it takes time for the hair follicles to be disabled and for the treated hair to fall out. After completing your recommended sessions, you can expect a significant reduction in hair density. While some individuals experience near-permanent hair reduction, occasional touch-up sessions might be necessary to maintain the desired outcome.
Factors such as hair color, skin tone, hormonal changes, and underlying medical conditions influence the effectiveness of laser hair removal. People with darker hair and lighter skin tend to respond most favorably to treatment.
Hormonal imbalances, such as those caused by conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), might impact the results and require a more personalized approach.
Understanding the laser hair removal process and what to expect during your sessions is essential for a successful and satisfying experience. Our comprehensive guide at Simplicity Laser takes you through every pivotal step, from your first consultation to the crucial aftercare. Remember that patience is key, as significant hair reduction requires a series of sessions. ]]>In this blog post, we'll delve into the connection between PCOS and excessive hair growth, and explore how laser hair removal can relieve individuals dealing with this concern.
PCOS is characterized by hormonal imbalances, resulting in the development of cysts on the ovaries, irregular menstrual cycles, and, often, elevated levels of androgens (male hormones) like testosterone. One common consequence of heightened androgen levels in individuals with PCOS is hirsutism – the growth of coarse, dark hair in areas typically associated with male-pattern hair growth, such as the face, chest, back, and abdomen.
The impact of hirsutism extends beyond its physical presence. It can lead to emotional distress, lowered self-confidence, and even social isolation. While some individuals may opt for temporary solutions like shaving, waxing, or threading, these methods offer short-lived results. They can lead to skin irritation, ingrown hairs, and increased psychological distress.
Laser hair removal has emerged as a promising solution for managing unwanted hair growth caused by PCOS. This medical procedure involves using concentrated energy to target and destroy hair follicles, preventing or delaying future hair growth. The procedure is safe and effective for various skin types and hair colors.

]]>The Fitzpatrick scale is a valuable tool in the field of laser hair removal as it helps professionals understand how different skin types respond to laser treatment. Type I and II skin have less melanin, while Types III to VI skin have higher melanin levels, which require specialized lasers to safely target the hair follicles without harming the skin.
By accurately determining an individual's skin type, practitioners can select the most appropriate laser and energy settings, ensuring successful and safe outcomes for all clients. Understanding this interplay between skin type and laser technology is essential for achieving optimal results in laser hair removal treatments.
Type I: Very fair skin; always burns, never tans.
Type II: Fair skin; burns easily, tans minimally.
Type III: Medium skin; may burn, tans gradually to light brown.
Type IV: Olive skin; rarely burns, tans to moderate brown.
Type V: Brown skin; rarely burns, tans to dark brown.
Type VI: Dark brown to black skin; never burns, tans deeply.
Here's how the Fitzpatrick scale pertains to the sun and its connection to laser hair removal:
Skin Types and Sun Sensitivity: The Fitzpatrick scale takes into account the amount of melanin (the pigment responsible for skin, hair, and eye color) present in the skin and how it reacts to sun exposure.
Individuals with lighter skin (Types I to III) tend to burn more easily and have a higher risk of sun damage, while those with darker skin (Types IV to VI) have more melanin and are less prone to burning but still need sun protection.
Laser Hair Removal: Laser hair removal uses focused laser light to target and damage hair follicles, thereby reducing hair growth. The effectiveness and safety of laser hair removal can be influenced by a person's skin type, as per the Fitzpatrick scale. The amount of melanin in the skin affects how the laser interacts with the skin and hair follicles.
Lighter Skin Types (I-III): People with lighter skin types usually have less melanin in their skin, which makes them good candidates for laser hair removal. The contrast between their hair color and skin color allows the laser to selectively target the hair follicles without causing excessive damage to the surrounding skin.
However, caution is still needed to avoid potential side effects like burns or pigmentation changes, especially with Type I skin.
Darker Skin Types (IV-VI): Individuals with darker skin have more melanin, which makes it more challenging for the laser to distinguish between hair and surrounding skin. There's a risk of the laser causing damage to the skin, such as burns or hyperpigmentation. Advanced laser systems, like Candela’s Nd:Yag, might be used to make the procedure safer for individuals with darker skin.
Understanding your skin type is crucial as it determines the type of laser used, the energy settings, and the level of caution required during the treatment. For instance, individuals with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick type IV-VI) have higher melanin levels and require specialized lasers, such as Candela’s Nd:Yag, to minimize the risk of burns or pigmentation changes.
The color and thickness of the hair impact the absorption of laser energy, making it essential for practitioners to assess hair type during the consultation process. Clients with dark, coarse hair often experience the most favorable results, as the laser can precisely target the pigment-rich hair follicles, leading to long-lasting hair reduction.
On the other hand, vellus hair or light-colored hair, such as blonde, red, or gray, may not respond well to laser treatment due to the limited presence of melanin. By considering these factors, technicians can set realistic expectations and provide personalized treatment plans to achieve the best possible outcomes for their clients.
The ideal candidates for laser hair removal are individuals with dark hair and light skin, as the contrast between the hair and skin allows for better targeting of the hair follicles. However, advancements in laser technology have made it possible to treat a wider range of hair colors and all skin types.
Specialized lasers and techniques have been developed to accommodate various skin types and hair colors to ensure safe and effective laser hair removal. For darker skin tones, lasers such as Nd:YAG, are commonly used, as they have longer wavelengths that penetrate deeper without overly targeting the skin's melanin. These lasers minimize the risk of burns or hyperpigmentation while still being effective.
For lighter skin tones, Alexandrite lasers are often preferred. They emit a specific wavelength of light that is highly absorbed by the pigment in the hair, making them effective for targeting hair follicles while keeping the surrounding skin safe. Alexandrite lasers are known for their precision, speed, and optimal results, especially for individuals with fair to olive skin tones.
Simplicity Laser can provide safe treatments by way of the Nd: YAG and Alexandrite lasers. Simplicity Laser’s technicians are trained to assess various skin types accurately to determine which laser best suits each treatment.
It is important to consult with a qualified laser hair removal specialist who can assess your skin and hair type accurately and recommend the most suitable laser system for your specific needs. Their expertise will ensure that the treatment is tailored to your unique characteristics, minimizing any potential risks and optimizing the results.
Understanding the interplay between skin and hair types is crucial in achieving successful and safe laser hair removal outcomes. Different skin types require tailored approaches to minimize the risk of adverse effects, while hair type determines the effectiveness of the treatment. By consulting with an experienced professional, they will be able to help customize your treatments based on your specific characteristics to maximize the benefits of laser hair removal.
Always choose a reputable clinic with experience in treating diverse skin and hair types. They will be able to tailor the treatment to your specific needs, minimizing any potential risks and maximizing the benefits of laser hair removal. With the continuous advancements in laser technology, more individuals can now enjoy the convenience and long-lasting results of laser hair removal.
Remember to follow the pre and post-treatment instructions provided, as they will help enhance the effectiveness of the procedure and reduce any potential side effects. Laser hair removal can be a life-changing solution, providing you with the confidence of smooth, clinically hair-free skin, so take the time to understand your skin and hair types and embark on your laser hair removal journey with knowledge and confidence.
By recognizing the diversity of skin and hair types and embracing a personalized approach, laser hair removal can now cater to a broader range of individuals, making it a convenient and efficient solution for unwanted hair removal.
Thanks to ongoing advancements in laser technology and a deeper understanding of these factors, achieving smooth, hair-free skin has never been easier and more accessible for people of all skin tones. Embrace the possibilities of laser hair removal and experience the confidence of a hair-free life.
]]>In this blog post, we will explore the relationship between sun exposure and laser hair removal, examining the potential risks, precautions, and best practices to ensure optimal results and maintain skin health.
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated beams of light to target and destroy hair follicles, inhibiting hair growth. The treatment is effective for various skin and hair types but requires multiple sessions for optimal results. While it offers significant advantages over traditional hair removal methods, such as waxing or shaving, it is essential to be aware of the potential impact of sun exposure on the procedure.
Sun exposure refers to the exposure of one's skin to the ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted by the sun. When we spend time outdoors, our skin is exposed to the sun's rays, which consist of UVA and UVB radiation. While some amount of sun exposure is necessary for the body to produce vitamin D, excessive or unprotected exposure can have harmful effects on the skin.
UV radiation can penetrate the skin and cause various short-term and long-term effects. In the short term, excessive sun exposure can result in sunburn or tanning, which is characterized by redness, pain, peeling of the skin, or tanned skin. Sunburns are primarily caused by UVB radiation. In the long term, cumulative sun exposure can lead to premature aging of the skin, wrinkles, age spots, and an increased risk of skin cancer.
It is important to note that sun exposure is not limited to sunny days or warm weather. Even on cloudy or overcast days, UV radiation can still reach the Earth's surface and affect the skin. UV rays can also reflect off surfaces like sand, water, and snow, intensifying exposure.
Before undergoing laser hair removal, why is it crucial to avoid excessive sun exposure? This is exposure to the sun that lasts 30 minutes or more, even when in the shade. When the skin is tanned or sunburned, it becomes more sensitive, which can increase the risk of complications during the treatment.
Sunburned or even tanned skin is more susceptible to damage from the laser, leading to discomfort, burns, or pigmentation issues. The darkened skin competes with the follicles and absorbs the light, leading to long-term side effects and pigmentation changes.
To ensure the best outcome, it is advisable to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least two weeks before your laser hair removal session. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF and wearing protective clothing when going outside is also recommended.
Following a laser hair removal session, the treated area will be more sensitive to sunlight. The laser can make the skin temporarily more prone to sunburn, pigmentation changes, and other adverse effects. Therefore, protecting the treated area from sun exposure is crucial for proper healing and to prevent complications.
It is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks after the treatment. If sun exposure is unavoidable, wearing protective clothing, using broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF, and seeking shade during peak hours can help minimize the risk. Additionally, it is essential to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your laser hair removal specialist to promote healing and reduce the chances of adverse reactions.
Embracing a sun-safe lifestyle is crucial for maintaining healthy and radiant skin. Sun protection should become an integral part of your daily routine to safeguard your skin from harmful UV rays and prevent premature aging. Always opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, regardless of the weather conditions. This ensures that both UVA and UVB rays are blocked effectively.
Applying sunscreen generously and evenly is vital, especially on easily overlooked areas like your ears, neck, and the tops of your feet. Reapplication is equally important; make it a habit to reapply every two hours and even more frequently if you're swimming or sweating.
Beyond sunscreen, incorporating other sun-safe practices can offer an added layer of protection. Donning protective clothing like wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses with UV protection, and lightweight, long-sleeved garments can shield your skin from direct sun exposure.
Timing your outdoor activities can also make a significant difference. When the sun is at its peak, typically between 10 am and 4 pm, seek shade whenever possible to reduce sun exposure.
Furthermore, take extra precautions when participating in outdoor sports or spending extended periods in the water. Water and snow can reflect sunlight, intensifying its impact on your skin. Therefore, apply sunscreen before engaging in such activities, and reapply as needed.
Remember, sun protection is not just for sunny days. UV rays can penetrate through clouds and cause damage even on overcast days. Even when you're in the car, you can still be exposed to harmful UV rays through the windows. UVA rays, which contribute to premature aging, can penetrate through the glass, so it's important to wear sunscreen or use window shades to protect your skin during long drives and regardless of the weather.
When it comes to laser hair removal, practicing diligent sun protection is especially important. Sun exposure before and after the procedure can affect the results and increase the risk of complications. Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for at least two weeks before and after each session.
Always consult with your laser hair removal technician about any concerns related to sun exposure and the procedure. They can provide personalized advice based on your skin type, hair color, and specific needs.
At Simplicity Laser, we pride ourselves on providing customized treatments from licensed technicians to help people achieve their hair removal goals. By following the recommended guidelines, you can enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal while ensuring the long-term health and beauty of your skin.
By making sun protection a priority in your daily routine and adhering to the guidelines set by your laser hair removal technician, you can ensure the best possible outcomes for your skin health and the effectiveness of the treatment. Embrace the sun responsibly, protect your skin diligently, and revel in the beauty of healthy, glowing skin throughout the seasons.
If you've scheduled a laser hair removal session and have recently had sun exposure, it's best to reschedule your appointment. Exposing your skin to the sun before the treatment can increase its sensitivity and raise the risk of adverse reactions during the procedure. You may be rescheduled or unable to be treated if you have sun exposure.
To ensure optimal results and minimize potential complications, wait at least two weeks after sun exposure before proceeding with your laser hair removal session. Always prioritize sun protection and follow your technician's guidance to achieve the best outcome for your skin and hair removal goals.
Simplicity Laser’s dedicated team is prepared to address any inquiries you might have regarding laser hair removal. Reach out to us at 877.539.6934 to engage with our laser advisors and embark on your journey today.
]]>One of the most important things to consider is the type of sunscreen you use during your treatments. Physical and chemical sunscreens are two different types of sunscreens that work differently to protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays.
Physical sunscreens contain active mineral ingredients, such as Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide, that create a physical barrier on the skin's surface to reflect or scatter UV rays away from the skin.
People with sensitive skin often prefer physical sunscreens because they tend to be less irritating and do not contain potentially harmful chemical ingredients.
Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, contain active ingredients such as avobenzone or oxybenzone that work by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat. These sunscreens are usually easier to apply and are less visible on the skin than physical sunscreens. However, they can sometimes cause irritation or allergic reactions in people with sensitive skin.
Both types of sunscreens can effectively protect against the sun's harmful UV rays when used properly. However, people with sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions may prefer physical sunscreens, while those looking for a more lightweight and easy-to-apply option may prefer chemical sunscreens.
Physical sunscreen is often considered the safer option for people with sensitive skin and is preferred for laser hair removal.
Because chemical sunscreens work by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat, it could cause a similar reaction as the laser treatment.
When chemical sunscreens are applied to the skin, they can create a layer of heat that can make the skin more sensitive and potentially interfere with the laser's ability to target the hair follicle. This can result in less effective hair removal and possibly even skin damage.
First, physical sunscreens are less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions than chemical sunscreens. This is because the mineral ingredients in physical sunscreen are less likely to penetrate the skin and cause irritation.
Second, physical sunscreen provides immediate protection as soon as it is applied to the skin. This is important during laser hair removal because the laser can cause damage to the skin if it is exposed to the sun's UV rays.
By using physical sunscreen, you can protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays during the treatment.
Third, physical sunscreen is water-resistant and sweat-resistant, which means that it will stay on the skin even if you sweat or get wet. This is important during laser hair removal because it can make your skin more susceptible to sun damage.
Finally, physical sunscreen is effective against both UVA and UVB rays, which are the two types of UV rays that can cause skin damage. This means that you can use physical sunscreen to protect your skin during laser hair removal and other outdoor activities.
We recommend avoiding chemical sunscreens when undergoing laser hair removal treatments. This is because some of the active ingredients in chemical sunscreens can interfere with the laser treatment and decrease its effectiveness.
Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them into heat, which can cause a similar reaction to the laser treatment. When chemical sunscreens are applied to the skin, they can create a layer of heat that can make the skin more sensitive and potentially interfere with the laser's ability to target the hair follicle.
This can result in less effective hair removal and possibly even skin damage. As the chemicals absorb in the skin, it also makes it very difficult to remove the sunscreen before treatment which can be a contraindication.
On the other hand, physical sunscreens, which contain mineral ingredients like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, create a physical barrier on the skin that reflects or scatters UV rays. They do not absorb into the skin and are less likely to interfere with the laser treatment.
We recommend using a physical sunscreen that has Zinc Oxide in it. EltaMD is a popular brand of medical-grade sunscreen and skincare products well-known for its high-quality formulations and effectiveness.
Medical-grade sunscreen refers to sunscreens that are specifically formulated and tested to meet the highest standards of efficacy, safety, and quality. They undergo rigorous testing to ensure their efficacy and safety. They are often subjected to clinical trials to determine their SPF, broad-spectrum protection, and potential for skin irritation or allergic reactions.
Here are several reasons why we love EltaMD:
When choosing a physical sunscreen for laser hair removal, look for one labeled as "broad-spectrum," with an SPF of 30 or higher, and that contains Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide. By using physical sunscreen, you can ensure that your skin is protected during the treatment and avoid any unnecessary damage to your skin.
At Simplicity Laser, we sell and recommend EltaMD because physical sunscreen is the best choice for laser hair removal since it provides immediate and effective protection against the sun's harmful UV rays.
]]>From preparing your skin before the procedure to following post-treatment care instructions, taking certain steps can help you optimize the effectiveness of the treatment and achieve smoother, clinically hair-free skin.
Here are some suggestions on how to get the most out of laser hair removal.
It's crucial to avoid sun exposure (anything where you are outside in the sun for more than 30 minutes) for at least one week before and after your scheduled appointment. Use a zinc oxide sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and avoid outdoor activities during peak sun hours to protect your skin and achieve better results. Sunburns, peeling skin, tanning beds, and tanning lotions make the skin more prone to adverse reactions from the laser, which can cause skin discoloration, burns, or blisters. You will want to wait at least two weeks before getting treated or until the skin is as close to your natural skin color as possible.
Shaving removes the hair above the skin surface, allowing the laser to target the hair follicles directly. Shave the area thoroughly 12-24 hours before your appointment to ensure the best results. Surface hair, especially longer or denser hair, can absorb and dissipate the laser energy before it reaches the follicle, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. Shaving the treatment area removes the surface hair, minimizing its interference and ensuring that the laser energy is focused on the follicle.
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicles. Plucking or waxing removes the entire hair shaft, including the follicle, leaving nothing for the laser to target. This can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment, as the laser needs to reach the follicle to destroy it and inhibit future hair growth. Avoid these hair removal methods for at least four weeks before your laser hair removal session.
Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and create a smoother surface, allowing the laser energy to penetrate more effectively into the targeted hair follicles. It can help minimize the risk of ingrown hairs after the laser hair removal procedure. By sloughing off dead skin cells, exfoliation helps to prevent trapped hairs from becoming ingrown, which can cause irritation, redness, and bumps on the skin. Exfoliating can improve the overall comfort of the treatment. Dead skin cells and debris on the skin's surface can absorb laser energy, leading to increased heat and discomfort during the procedure.
Laser hair removal typically requires multiple sessions to achieve optimal results. The exact number of treatments will depend on various factors, including your hair color, skin type, and treatment area. Follow the recommended treatment schedule provided by your technician. Consistency is key in laser hair removal, as the treatments target hair follicles in different growth stages. Skipping sessions or extending the time between treatments may delay or reduce the effectiveness of the results.
During your laser hair removal treatment, it's essential to communicate openly with your provider about your experience, any discomfort or pain, and your expectations. It's also important to disclose any changes in your health or medications you are taking to avoid any potential complications.
After each laser hair removal session, it's crucial to take care of your skin to promote healing and achieve better results. Avoid hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms for at least 24 hours, as heat can increase skin sensitivity. Apply aloe vera or a soothing gel, such as Restorative Gel, to calm the treated area and reduce redness. Avoid tight clothing or friction on the treated area, and don't scratch or pick at the skin to prevent infection or scarring. Follow post-treatment instructions carefully to ensure optimal healing and results.
After each laser hair removal session, your skin needs time to heal and recover. Following the recommended aftercare instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure, hot showers, or friction, is essential to promote healing and prevent complications. Being consistent with aftercare practices and giving your skin enough time to heal between treatments ensures that you are taking care of your skin and maximizing the effectiveness of the treatment.
Every person's body and hair are unique, and individual responses to laser hair removal can vary. Some people may see noticeable results after a few sessions, while others may require more treatments to achieve desired results. It's important to have realistic expectations and be patient, as the results may vary from person to person.
At Simplicity Laser, we have various treatment programs that accommodate many types of clients. From packages to memberships, our care managers can help determine which would be best depending on your goals for laser hair removal.
Laser treatments may require adjustments over time based on changes in your skin condition, response to treatment, or other factors. Customization allows for flexibility in adapting the treatment plan as needed to optimize results and address any changes that may occur during the course of the treatment. Technicians may adjust the laser settings or treatment approach based on your feedback to ensure the best results.
Laser hair removal is an effective method of hair removal, but it requires multiple sessions for optimal results. Patience and consistent aftercare are essential for getting better results with laser hair removal. Following the recommended treatment schedule, communicating openly with your provider, and taking care of your skin pre and post treatment are crucial steps in achieving optimal results.
Individual responses may vary, and results may take time to become noticeable. By following these tips, you can help get the most out of your laser hair removal treatments. With proper care and patience, laser hair removal can provide you with long-lasting smooth, and hair-free skin. Call us at 800-559-9138 to schedule your laser hair removal treatment today and take the first step toward achieving the results you deserve!
]]>To ensure the best results and minimize any potential risks, there are important steps you should take before laser hair removal appointment scheduling. In this blog post, we will provide you with valuable tips and guidance on what to do before laser hair removal.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure a safe, effective, and successful laser hair removal experience. So let's dive in and learn more about how to prepare for your laser hair removal treatment!
Fillers can alter the structure and contour of the treated area, which may interfere with the accuracy and effectiveness of the laser treatment. Using lasers and fillers together in the same treatment area may increase the risk of adverse effects, such as burns, blisters, or skin damage.
To ensure the safety and effectiveness of your laser hair removal and filler treatments, avoid receiving natural fillers — hyaluronic acid, Juvederm, Restylane, collagen — four to six weeks before receiving treatments in the area. Clients with synthetic fillers (silicone) cannot be treated in that area.
If you are currently taking Accutane or any other acne medications, it's important to notify your laser hair removal provider before your appointment. Accutane, or isotretinoin, is a potent medication commonly used to treat severe acne. It can significantly affect the condition and sensitivity of your skin, making it more prone to dryness, redness, and increased sensitivity to the laser.
Laser hair removal is not recommended while taking Accutane or other similar medications due to the increased risk of adverse effects on the skin, such as burns, blisters, or scarring. At Simplicity Laser, we recommend waiting six months after your last dose before undergoing laser hair removal.
Before your laser hair removal appointment, it's essential to avoid sun exposure. Sun exposure is when you are out in the sun doing anything for more than 30 minutes at a time. If you must be in the sun, wear protective clothing, such as hats and long sleeves, and use zinc-oxide sunscreen.
Sun exposure can make the treatment less effective, as the laser may not be able to distinguish between the pigment in the hair and the pigment in the skin. It's best to avoid sun exposure for at least one week before your laser hair removal appointment. If you are sunburned, or the skin is compromised (peeling), you may have to wait longer than a week before getting treated. The skin will have to be healed and as close to the natural skin color as possible.
The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicles, and if your skin has self-tanner residue, it can increase the risk of complications, such as burns or hyperpigmentation. It's best to avoid self-tanning products for at least two weeks before your laser hair removal appointment. The sunless tanning product must also be entirely removed from the skin before the appointment.
Shaving the treatment area before your laser hair removal appointment is important. Unlike waxing or tweezing, which require the hair to be visible, laser hair removal works best when the hair is shaved close to the skin's surface. Shaving the treatment area 12-24 hours before your appointment allows the laser to target the hair follicles directly without singeing the hair on the skin's surface.
Before your laser hair removal appointment, make sure to cleanse your skin thoroughly. Clean, oil-free skin ensures that the laser can penetrate the hair follicles without dirt, oil, or makeup interference.
Use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the treatment area, and avoid using any harsh or abrasive scrubs, as they can irritate the skin. It's also important to remove any makeup, lotions, creams, or oils from the treatment area, as they can create a barrier that may prevent the laser from effectively targeting the hair follicles and could potentially cause burns, hypopigmentation, or hyperpigmentation.
In the week leading up to your laser hair removal appointment, it's important to avoid certain products and treatments that can affect the effectiveness of the treatment or cause skin irritation. Avoid using any products that contain retinoids/retinols (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Tazorac, Differin, etc.), alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), glycolic acid, salicylic acid, Vitamin C, and hydroquinone, as these can make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation.
Unlike waxing or tweezing, which require the hair to be visible, laser hair removal works best when the hair is shaved close to the skin's surface. It's vital to avoid methods that remove the hair from the root, which is necessary for the laser to be effective.
You will want to avoid waxing, tweezing, threading, chemical epilation, microneedling, etc., at least three weeks prior to your treatment. It's best to shave the treatment area 12-24 hours before your appointment, allowing the laser to target the hair follicles directly without burning the hair on the skin's surface.
If you take photosensitive antibiotics, it's essential to inform your technician before your appointment. Some antibiotics, such as tetracycline and doxycycline, can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight and may cause a reaction when exposed to the laser.
Taking the necessary steps before your laser hair removal appointment ensures the best results and minimizes potential risks. From preparing your skin to avoiding certain products or medications, proper preparation is key to a successful laser hair removal experience.
At Simplicity Laser, we have a team ready to answer any questions you may have about laser hair removal! Call us at 800-559-9138 to speak with our laser advisors to get started today.

]]>In this blog post, we'll go over the differences between intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) and medical-grade laser hair removal, and explain why professional treatment is the best option for long-lasting, effective results.
Laser hair removal has become an increasingly popular choice for individuals seeking a long-term solution for unwanted hair. While traditional hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, and plucking provide temporary results, a laser hair removal treatment offers a more permanent solution by targeting the hair follicles and inhibiting future growth.
At-home laser hair removal devices have gained popularity due to their convenience and affordability. However, these devices may not offer the same laser hair removal benefits as professional hair removal, such as effectiveness and safety. At-home devices typically use IPL technology, which may not be as effective on darker skin tones and can increase the risk of burns and pigmentation issues.
Two of the most popular methods are professional laser hair removal and IPL (intense pulsed light) hair removal. While both methods use light to target hair follicles and bring amazing laser hair removal benefits, there are some key differences between the two.
IPL hair removal is a type of hair removal system that uses a broad spectrum of light to target the hair follicles. It is often used for at-home treatments and can be purchased in the form of handheld devices. The device emits multiple wavelengths of light at the skin the light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle, which then converts it into heat.
IPL devices are less effective on darker skin tones as the broad spectrum of light can also be absorbed by the pigment in the skin, increasing the risk of burns or pigmentation issues. Additionally, they tend to be less precise than professional laser hair removal devices, which can result in more discomfort and a higher risk of side effects.
Professional laser hair removal is performed by licensed and trained professionals who use medical-grade lasers to target hair follicles. Medical grade lasers such as the Alexandrite and the Nd: YAG lasers, used at Simplicity Laser, work by using a high-energy beam of light that is directed at the hair follicles.
The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. The absorbed energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicles, inhibiting future hair growth. Using a longer wavelength of light that can penetrate deeper into the skin, which makes these devices effective at treating deeper hair follicles.
This makes it suitable for all skin types, including darker skin tones that may be more prone to pigmentation issues. These lasers are more precise than IPL devices, which means they can target hair follicles without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. This precision results in less discomfort and a lower risk of side effects.
Professional Laser Hair Removal Benefits:
While the convenience and affordability of at-home hair removal may be tempting, it's important to consider the professional laser hair removal benefits. If you're looking for the most effective and long-lasting solution for hair removal, professional laser hair removal is the way to go. With precision, safety, customization, and lasting results, it's the best option for people of all skin types and qualifying hair colors.
So, say goodbye to the hassle of constant hair removal and say hello to smooth skin with professional laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal has become an increasingly popular option for individuals seeking long-term hair reduction. Unwanted body or facial hair can be a source of discomfort, self-consciousness, and inconvenience for many people, leading them to explore different methods of hair removal.
In this blog post, we'll address how many treatments you will need for laser hair removal and what may affect your treatments.
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated beams of light to target the pigment in hair follicles and inhibit further hair growth. The procedure is performed by a trained technician using a specialized laser device that emits the laser energy, which is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle.
This process generates heat, which damages the hair follicle and inhibits its ability to produce new hair. Laser hair removal is typically performed on various areas of the body, including the face, bikini area, underarms, legs, back, chest, and arms.
Hair grows in three main stages: anagen, catagen, and telogen. The laser energy used in laser hair removal targets the hair follicle during the anagen phase, which is the active growth phase. During this phase, the hair follicle is connected to the blood supply and receives the most nutrients, making it more responsive to the laser energy.
However, not all hairs are in the anagen phase at the same time. In fact, only a small percentage of hairs are in the anagen phase while the majority are in the catagen or telogen phase. This is why multiple treatments are necessary to effectively target the hairs in different stages of the growth cycle.
By spacing out the treatments, it allows time for the hair to progress through different growth stages and ensures that all the hairs are treated during their respective active growth phase, maximizing the effectiveness of the treatment.
It's important to follow the recommended treatment plan and not get discouraged if immediate results are not seen after the first session. As the sessions progress, you are likely to notice a gradual reduction in hair growth, with smoother skin and fewer hairs returning in the treated areas.
The number of laser hair removal treatments needed varies depending on various factors, such as hair type, hormones, genetics, and the area being treated. Generally, you'll need multiple sessions spaced out over several weeks to achieve optimal results. This is because hair growth occurs in cycles, and laser hair removal is most effective when the hair is in the active growth phase.
As we mentioned earlier, laser hair removal is an effective method of hair removal, but results might not be immediately noticeable. After your first treatment, you may not see a significant reduction in hair growth. This is because of how hair growth occurs in cycles, and the laser can only target hair that is in the active growth phase.
Here are some reasons why you may not see results immediately:
It's important to have realistic expectations when undergoing laser hair removal and understand that results take time. Unlike other methods of hair removal that provide immediate results, laser hair removal is a gradual process that requires patience and consistency.
While some people may see significant hair reduction after just a few treatments, most individuals require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.
It's important to follow the recommended treatment plan provided by your technician, which may involve treatments spaced several weeks apart. Be patient throughout the process, and maintain open communication with your technician. It's also crucial to follow any pre and post-treatment instructions provided by your technicians to minimize the risk of complications and achieve the best results.
Laser hair removal is a gradual process that requires consistency and patience, but the results can be long-lasting and worth the wait. If you're considering laser hair removal, Simplicity Laser has technicians that are ready to determine the best treatment plan for your unique needs and goals. With the right approach, laser hair removal can be an effective and convenient solution for achieving smooth, hair-free skin.

1. RESULTS
Waxing results don’t last. Wax is applied and then ripped off quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth causing hairs to be torn out at the root. If your unwanted hair is too short, the wax can’t grab the hair and the hair won’t be pulled out. In order to see results, you must grow your unwanted hair at least half an inch before your next waxing session. Waxing’s results only last a few weeks and you’ll need to wax again and again.
Laser hair removal results are effective. Significant results can be seen after a few laser treatments, but it will require several treatments to complete the process. Depending on your hair and the treatment area, the treatment program typically lasts anywhere up to 18 months. Once you’ve received the amount of hair reduction you want, you can say hello to effortlessly smooth skin!
2. COST
Regular waxing sessions can add up to several thousands of dollars over your lifetime. As long as you wax, you will continue spending money to remove unwanted hair. Depending on how many areas you wax, you will end up spending thousands and thousands of dollars.
Laser hair removal costs are very affordable. At Simplicity Laser, we only focus on laser hair removal to give you the best price! 3. EXPERIENCE
Waxing is painful. After the wax is applied to your treatment area it will then be ripped off which will cause the hairs to be torn out at the root. It is no secret that waxing is very painful, which will make you second guess going to your next appointment in two to four weeks.
Laser hair removal discomfort is manageable. Many laser hair removal clients describe the feeling like a rubber band snapping against their skin, with the sensation only lasting a few seconds. We use a Zimmer Cryo 6, which is a specific device that cools the skin, reduces inflammation and relaxes your body to make the treatment comfortable. If you can tolerate the pain of waxing, laser hair removal will be comfortable to get rid of your unwanted hair.
With our affordable membership plans, laser hair removal will save you money and give you the best results compared to a lifetime of waxing. Results will start gradually, but if you’re patient and follow your technicians' instructions, your results will be life-changing!

]]>It is essential to hydrate your skin by consuming a sufficient amount of water every day. How much water should you drink? You should set your goal between half an ounce and ounce of water for each pound you weigh, according to WebMD. If you weigh 170 pounds, you should try to consume anywhere from 85 -170 ounces of water a day.
A no-brainer here – Exfoliation removes dry and dead skin cells and improves blood circulation to reveal your healthy and glowing skin. The best way to exfoliate your skin for healthier skin is by using a loofah every day to keep ingrown hair and scaly skin under control. While you’re in the shower, gently scrub bumpy or flakey skin with a circular motion to remove dead skin cells.
While taking a long hot shower may feel amazing to help relax your muscles, it can actually do a disservice to your skin. According to Healthline, hot showers can dry out and irritate your skin. Hot water makes it easier for the skin to dry out and worsen conditions like eczema. For healthier skin, take shorter lukewarm showers for happier, healthier skin.
We all know that UV rays are harmful to our skin. Applying sunscreen every day to your face and any other areas of your skin that are exposed to the sun will protect you from those harmful UV rays. Make sure to find and apply a product with at least SPF 30. At Simplicity Laser, we love using ELTA MD UV CLEAR BROAD-SPECTRUM SPF 46. Applying sunscreen may seem tedious, but the results are huge while on your pursuit for healthier skin.
In general, this is a great rule of thumb, especially in today’s world with the spread of COVD-19 and other germs. Your hands touch many surfaces throughout the day and accumulate dirt and germs. Once you touch your face, you have transferred everything on your hands to your face. Keeping your hands off your face is a lot easier said than done but once you make it a habit your well on your way to obtaining healthier skin.
There you have it, five secrets to healthy skin. Find an accountability partner and don’t let each other miss your morning or nightly routines and remember that consistency is key!
]]>Significant results can be seen after a few laser treatments, but it will require several treatments to complete the process. The treatment program lasts for 18 months. This is because our body hair goes through three growth stages: the anagen, catagen, and telogen hair cycles. Each interval duration is unique to the specific area being treated. Lasers are effective in destroying the hair follicle only in the anagen phase, or when your hair is actively growing. In order to treat every hair and guarantee effective hair removal, you’ll need to have multiple treatments done. Depending on the area, you will have treatment from four to eight weeks apart. The time between appointments will give the hair enough time to transition to the active growth phase for hair removal lasers to target them effectively.
Depending on the area, appointments range from 5 to 25 minutes. Make sure to attend every appointment! We know life is busy and it's easy to forget about your appointments because you have already seen significant hair reduction. But it is extremely important to show up to all your treatments if you want to see the best hair removal results.
You probably already know this, but it’s always a good reminder. You need to shave the area you are treating 24 hours prior to your appointment. This allows the laser to effectively target and destroy the hair follicle.
Sunblock is your best friend! By using the correct sunblock, it minimizes the risk of interrupting your treatment program. Being outside in the sun doesn't make a recipe for success when it comes to laser hair removal. Be sure to use a mineral sunblock that contains zinc oxide; it gives you stronger coverage and protects your skin longer from the sun’s damaging rays. If you are sunburned or tanning within 14 days of your treatment, your technician will be unable to treat you due to safety. The additional energy from the laser can put you at risk for an adverse reaction. Wearing sunblock daily can prevent many of the adverse reactions that can come from sun exposure combined with laser hair removal. ]]>Q: How bad do the treatments hurt?
A: Across your treatments, laser technicians will customize the laser settings for you to maximize your results.
In the early treatments, the intensity of the laser will be lower, so the pain will be almost non-existent; it feels similar to being pricked with a pin. The discomfort is generally very short lived, and disappears almost instantly after the pulse from the laser.
As the treatments progress, the intensity of the laser will increase, as will the discomfort; at its worst, the pain is comparable to getting snapped by a rubber band. Simplicity Laser has invested in devices called Zimmers, which continuously blow sub-zero air onto the treatment area, helping to numb the area before the pulse and cool the area after.
If pain is a major concern for you, we have numbing cream available for purchase which includes Lidocaine and helps to greatly reduce sensitivity.
Q: How effective are the treatments?
A: Simplicity Laser uses Candela Gentlemax Pro and Candela ND:Yag lasers depending on your skin type. These lasers are some of the best lasers on the market, and are extremely effective at treating all skin types and tones. They are FDA approved, and are capable of permanently removing unwanted hair.
Clients can see between 10-30% permanent reduction in hair growth per treatment with these lasers. Unfortunately, as advanced as these lasers are, they are not effective at treating clients with lighter facial hair. Clients who have blonde, red, or gray facial hair may be able to see some reduction in hair growth, but they are unlikely to see more than a 30% reduction in overall hair growth.
Q: Are the results permanent?
A: Yes, the lasers used by Simplicity Laser permanently remove unwanted facial hair by destroying the hair follicle and root to prevent regrowth.
Q: What should I do to prepare for my treatments?
A: The best ways to prepare for your treatments are to avoid sun exposure for 7 days before your treatment, which means wearing sunscreen, and avoiding the sun as best as you can; avoid any physical activity that increases body temperature for at least 2 hours before your appointments; and if you are on any prescription drugs, make sure that you contact your doctor to see if they can increase photosensitivity. For a complete list of everything you can do to prepare for your treatments, check out our pre- and post-care instructions.
Q: Do I have to shave my facial hair, and if I do, won't that make the hair grow in thicker and darker?
A: Unfortunately, yes you do need to shave your facial hair in preparation for your laser treatment. The reason for this is that we need for the hair follicle and root to be intact so that the laser can destroy it; which is why waxing, tweezing, and epilating are not allowed. We also want to minimize the amount of hair that is above the surface of the skin, because having hair above the skin greatly increases the chance of an adverse reaction, so shaving is the only option that fits all of these criteria for removing facial hair.
As for shaving making facial hair grow in thicker and darker, that is just a myth. People have the perception that the hair is growing in thicker because when you shave it cuts the hair off in the middle, so when the rest of the hair pushes out, it is the thicker, darker part of the hair follicle that already existed under the surface of your skin.
Q: How long does the appointment take?
A: Facial hair removal appointments take 5-10 minutes depending on the areas that you are treating.
Q: What happens after the treatment?
A: After the treatment, most people will experience slight redness and swelling similar to a mild sunburn. This generally subsides shortly after treatment, but can last up to 72 hours; topical creams such as Simplicity Laser's restorative gel, aloe, calamine or hydrocortisone may be applied to help reduce the inflammation.
After a few days, you may see the facial hair begin to fall out, or shed; if you shave regularly, you may not notice the actual shedding of the hair. Exfoliating the area 12 hours or more after your appointment can speed up the shedding process, and will help prevent ingrown hairs.
Q: What can I do to maximize the effectiveness of the treatments?
A: Following the pre- and post-care instructions, as well as any special instructions from your laser technician is the best way to maximize the results from your treatments.
Make sure that you keep an open dialogue with your laser technician of any updates on how your body is reacting to the treatments and your facial hair growth, as this information will help them to make the best decisions on how to adjust your settings and treatment intervals to make sure that all of your treatments are as effective as they can be.
Q: What are the potential side effects of the treatments?
A: Side effects are uncommon in laser hair removal treatments, but they can cause permanent discoloration of the skin if they are not treated properly. If you experience any side effects, such as hypo- or hyper-pigmentation, prolonged redness or
swelling, a histamine reaction, or blistering, you should call or come in for instructions on treatment.
The most common reason that people experience these side effects is if they have had sun exposure that they have failed to disclose before their appointments. Being completely honest with your laser technician severely decreases your chances of having an adverse reaction to the laser treatments.

]]>Summer is one of the trickiest times for laser hair removal. With the heat comes poolside tanning and beach-time sunburns, which don’t exactly make a recipe for success when it comes to laser hair removal. If you are getting laser hair removal over the summer, avoid disrupting your treatment intervals by taking care of your skin and avoiding extensive sun exposure. Telling your technician about your recent sun exposure helps you stay on your intervals while also keeping your skin healthy and safe
Sunblock is your best friend during the summer (and anytime for that matter!). Be sure to use a mineral sunblock that contains zinc oxide; it gives you stronger coverage and protects your skin longer from the sun’s damaging rays. If you are sunburned or tanned when you come in for your treatment, your technician is unable to treat you due to the safety concern. This is because the added heat from the laser can damage your already sun-damaged skin. Wearing sunblock daily can prevent many of the adverse reactions that can come from sun exposure combined with laser hair removal. Check out our Elta MD sunblocks in our clinics or online for great protection.
Extended sun exposure throws off your treatment intervals, resulting in less-effective results. Whether you are in the sun for 20 minutes or two hours, the UV rays can cause damage to your skin that does not combine well with laser treatments. Adverse reactions can include burns and hyperpigmentation. This is why it’s essential to wear sunblock when you are outside, even for a quick car ride to the store. Prevent throwing your intervals off by avoiding extensive sun exposure and by wearing sunblock everyday.
Sunless tanning products can also have a negative effect on your treatments. The various chemicals in sunless tanning products, such as lotions or spray tans, cause adverse reactions when combined with the laser heat. Be honest with your technician about the products you are using and when you last used them.
Though it may be tempting to lie about your recent sun exposure to your technician in order to stay on your treatment intervals, you are ultimately doing more damage to yourself than helping. As stated before, adverse reactions can occur if there is recent sun exposure or chemicals on your skin that the technician does not know about. If treated with the laser, adverse reactions more than likely will occur. Help us help you get the results you want by being honest and up front with your technician about sun exposure and other products you use during the summer.
]]>While laser doesn’t damage the skin, it is important to help soothe it post-treatment. Moisturizing is essential before and after treatments to keep your skin healthy. It is common to see red bumps post-treatment, but moisturizing can help soothe and repair it quicker so you can get back to your daily routine. We offer a Restorative Gel that is specifically designed to repair and soothe your skin faster than normal moisturizer. It calms the common reactions you see after getting treated.
Exfoliating your skin removes the dead skin cells that pile up and cover your pores, which prevent new, healthy skin cells from growing. When you don’t exfoliate, it often results in bumps on the skin’s surface. During laser hair removal, the dead skin cells prevent the hair from shedding and make the overall process less effective. These dead skin cells can also create a barrier for the laser, making the impact often ineffective. Exfoliating one to two times weekly, especially on the treatment area, will help you get the results you’re looking for.
During laser hair removal, the sun is not your friend. Using sunblock daily – even during the winter – will prevent any adverse reactions from occurring. Extended sun exposure can heat your skin to a point that the laser will only overheat your body, resulting in adverse reactions. We know staying out of the sun isn’t realistic, but sunblock can prevent sunburns and tans that otherwise cannot be treated over during laser. Simply, we want you to get the best results possible, and that means not overheating your body and avoiding adverse reactions.
Beware of sunless tanning products and spray tans while getting laser hair removal. The chemicals in these products do not mix well with laser hair removal and can result in burns and/or discoloration. Be honest with your technician about using these products as treating you too early will result in adverse reactions.
By following the guidelines given here along with the pre- and post-treatment care instructions from the website, you will see the maximum results you’re looking for from your laser hair removal treatments.
]]>When you hear the phrase “Laser Hair Removal” you don’t think ‘cheap;’ you think ‘expensive.’ This is the case for most laser companies, but not for Simplicity Laser. We offer affordable packages and memberships that won’t suck your wallet dry. This is what makes Simplicity different: we try to save you time and money. We are always offering great deals and giveaways on our website and social media sites like Instagram. Check out your options here and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest for more insider deals.
The pain and discomfort are what worry most clients. Here at Simplicity Laser we try to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Some compare the pain to a rubber band snapping on the skin. Though everyone’s pain tolerance is different, it is generally manageable and worth losing the painful ingrown hairs or getting cut while shaving.
This is one of the most important steps in getting laser hair removal that most don’t consider. It is very important to keep your skin as healthy and safe as possible during your treatments in order to prevent adverse reactions.
Before you go in for your treatment, the treatment area must be clean-shaven. A close shave allows the laser to closely target the hair follicle underneath the skin, not above it.
Be sure to use Simplicity’s Restorative Gel before and after treatment. It hydrates, soothes, and repairs the skin post-treatment, allowing you to get the results you’re looking for. (Use on sunburns, blemishes, and minor cuts and scrapes as well to help the healing process!)
Wearing sunscreen is a must when getting laser hair removal. Be sure to wear a mineral sunscreen that contains zinc oxide to protect your skin from sun damage. During laser treatments, your skin is very sensitive to the sun and heat. Even slight sun exposure can knock you off your proper treatment intervals (we want to avoid adverse reactions the best we can, even if that means rescheduling your treatment). By doing all of those things, you will be sure to have a great experience with maximum results.
Myth: Laser hair removal causes skin damage.
Fact: Laser hair removal does not cause any damage to the skin, just the hair follicle. The laser destroys the follicle, preventing hair from growing back. It may leave the skin a little red and puffy for a few minutes, but that goes away. It is 100% safe when you follow all the pre- and post-treatment care instructions.
Myth: Laser hair removal works on every hair color.
Fact: True, we can treat all hair colors, but it doesn’t mean the treatments will produce effective results, especially on lighter hair colors (blonde, red, gray, white). The laser only targets the dark pigment (melanin) in the hair. The most effective results are seen on dark hair.
Myth: Laser hair removal is a one-treatment process.
Fact: When you sign up to get laser, you should expect multiple treatments to get the maximum results you’re looking for. The average client requires 18 months to reach their clinical end point. Why? The hair growth cycles are different on every part of your body. The laser is only effective on the follicles that are in the active growth cycle. We track your cycles and get you on the correct intervals so each treatment occurs during those active growth phases. There is no set expectation to what results you will see and when since everyone is unique and responds differently to treatments.
Myth: Laser hair removal is time consuming.
Fact: Your time is valuable, and that’s why our goal is to save you time! The average appointment takes only 15-20 minutes (slightly more if you come in to treat your full body). Our laser technicians are highly trained to get you in and out while still doing a thorough job.
Following the pre- and post-treatment instructions from your laser tech will help you see optimum results. This means going to your appointments on the correct intervals clean-shaven each time, avoiding sun exposure, notifying your technician of any medications you are taking, wearing sunscreen, and using Restorative Gel, among other things. By doing this, you will be sure to have a positive experience with laser hair removal.
]]>A lot of people wonder what it's like to get laser hair removal. Does it hurt? How bad is it? What can be done to minimize the pain? Hopefully this blog post can answer a few of these questions for you.
Laser hair removal can be somewhat painful; however, everyone's pain tolerance is different. Most people compare it to being snapped by a rubber band. There are a few things that we do here at Simplicity Laser to help make sure that your treatments are as comfortable as possible.
The first thing that we use to help minimize the pain of laser hair removal is top-of-the-line lasers. By using the latest and greatest lasers on the market, we are able to provide a much more comfortable experience for our clients. We currently utilize the Candela ND:Yag and Alexandrite lasers for all of our clients. These two lasers are unparalleled in the results and comfort that they deliver our clients, which is why we use them in all of our clinics.
Another investment that Simplicity Laser has made for the comfort of our clients is a machine known as the Zimmer. These machines are specially designed to deliver cool air to the surface of your skin, helping to decrease skin sensitivity and calm the surface before and after the pulse.
We also offer a line of the best products designed to increase comfort and protect and repair your skin after treatment. These products include our Restorative Gel and Desensitizing Gel, specially formulated for our Simplicity clinics.
The Desensitizing Gel contains 4% lidocaine to help numb the area that will be treated. Applying it 30 minutes before your appointment will give you the best results.
The restorative gel is best used post-treatment. It helps to soothe the skin immediately and begins the process of repairing your skin post-treatment. It is an incredible asset that can help reduce inflammation, redness, and tenderness while also making sure that your skin is ready for your next laser hair removal treatment.

]]>Everybody has three different stages of hair growth. The Anagen phase is the active growth phase. This is the only phase where laser hair removal is effective. Only 20% of hair is actively growing during one Anagen growth phase, hence why multiple treatments are necessary for laser hair removal to be effective for long-term results. The phase can last 3-4 months on the body and 5-7 years on the head. (This is why you can't grow long, head-type hairs on your arms or legs.)
The second phase is the Catagen phase, which is the shedding phase. Laser hair removal is not effective during this phase. This phase usually lasts around three weeks.
The last phase is the Telogen phase, or the dormant phase. Up to 80% of hair can be in the Telogen phase at any time. Laser hair removal is not effective during this phase.
Durations in each cycle are highly unique to each person and body area. At Simplicity Laser, your technicians will customize your treatment intervals to target your unique hair cycle duration to assure that your treatments are happening during the Anagen phase (when laser hair removal is most effective). This allows you to get the best results in the shortest amount of time.

]]>These are all very common questions for people looking into laser hair removal. In this article, we will explain the why behind each of these questions so that you can make an informed decision before investing in laser hair removal.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal permanently removes hair by destroying the root of the hair follicles. We destroy the follicles by using pulses of light designed to heat the hair follicle to the point that it dies. We use specific wavelengths of light that target pigment, so the skin remains undamaged but the follicle is destroyed. This is why laser is most effective on dark hair.
Why does it take so long to get results?
It takes the average client 18 months to two years to reach their clinical end point. Each area has a treatment interval that falls somewhere between 4-10 weeks depending on the area.
This is because laser treatments are only effective on hair follicles that are in their active growth cycle. At any given time, roughly 10% of your hair is actually in the growth phase. During the other times, the hair is migrating through the skin before finally shedding completely. It takes a few weeks for each of these phases to pass, and that is why we only treat on specific intervals. You could get treated once a day for two months, but you would probably only see results from 1-2 of those treatments.
Why does it matter what type of laser you use?
There are lots of different 'lasers' on the market. Many of these 'lasers' are not actually lasers at all, but rather IPL machines (Intense Pulsed Light). The issue with using an IPL versus a real laser is that the IPL doesn't destroy the follicle but rather damages the hair and can cause temporary shedding and removal, but it can't give you permanent results.
]]>There is so much each customer can do to ensure both safe, incident-free treatments as well as amazing results. Here are a few tips.
Pre-treatment instructions aren't just suggestions; they are requirements put in place to help your treatments be as safe as possible. Do not come into your treatment with recent sun exposure, unshaven areas, or if you've recently been on antibiotics. A full list of the pre-treatment instructions can be found here. These instructions are also emailed to you before each appointment.
Imagine if after a major surgery, your doctor told you it was crucial to avoid heavy physical activity for a week. You would be careful to skip the gym that week, right? It is exactly the same with laser hair removal. Avoid extended UV exposure, working out immediately before and/or after treatment, and chemical treatments. A full list of post-treatment instructions can be found here.
We get it, you are busy and sometimes rescheduling your appointment can be difficult on your schedule. You may be tempted to not tell your laser technician about an antibiotic you are taking or recent sun exposure you've had. When you aren't honest with your laser technician, you are putting yourself at risk for an incident. It is not worth the risk. Be honest with your laser technician and they will be happy to reschedule your appointment at your earliest convenience.
]]>Starting Now Means You'll Be Ready For Swimsuit Season

Sunny Days Are A Thing Of The Past
Whether you are mourning the passing of summer or are itching to break out your stash of trendy scarves, you can celebrate your season-long hiatus from the sun.
